Andy Reid Comments On Expectations For Rookies

The Kansas City Chiefs are consistently good because of their ability to draft well.

Building a championship roster starts in the draft each year, and that will never change.

Despite picking at the back end of each round over the past five years, the Chiefs have found some steals.

They hope that will be the case again with their 2023 draft class.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid knows the transition from college to NFL is not easy.

Yet according to NFL Network, he expects his newest draft class to “up their game a bunch.”

Reid has been coaching long enough to know what each rookie must do to be productive in year one.

He realizes that some players take longer than others to adjust.

Reid is a big reason why Patrick Mahomes has developed into the best quarterback in the NFL.

Mahomes’ talent plus Reid’s knowledge has been a perfect match.

Amongst the notable picks the Chiefs made this year are first-rounder Felix Anudike-Uzomah and second-rounder Rashee Rice.

Both should be able to play in 2023 and can make a weekly impact.

Anudike-Uzomah should be in their defensive line rotation from day one, while Rice may be able to carve out a role as the third or fourth wide receiver.

The Chiefs are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

While they may not need their rookie class to have a massive impact this year, there will come a time when these players are called upon.

Reid hopes each is ready when their number is called.
