Boston Celtics guard Derrick White has been a truly irreplaceable part of his team’s success this season, especially on the defensive end.

On Tuesday, his defensive efforts were rewarded, as he was named to the NBA’s 2022-23 All-Defensive Second Team.

As a result, White has earned a nice bonus, as he’ll make an extra $250,000 for taking home the honor.

During the regular season, White led all NBA guards in contested shots and blocks.

All season long, he’s consistently been in the right place at the right time, finding ways to make winning plays for his squad.

White’s selection to the All-Defensive Second Team marks the biggest accolade of his NBA career so far.

One has to imagine that if he keeps defending and playing at a high level, there will likely be more awards and bonuses for him in the future.

For now, he’s focused on helping the Celtics win their second-round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers.

White has had a very good postseason so far, averaging 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from beyond the arc.

If he and the Celtics can get past the Sixers, they’ll face the winner of the Miami Heat-New York Knicks series in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The 28-year-old is looking to win his first NBA championship this season after Boston fell just two wins short of getting the job done in the 2022 NBA Finals.
