Ken Jennings Crosses the Picket Line to Tape Jeopardy!

Some productions have closed due to the ongoing writers strike, but thanks to Ken Jennings, Danger! won’t be one of them. Jennings officially crossed the picket line to host the show, deadline Reporting – even after his partner, Mayim Bialik, refused to do so.

Danger! The final episodes of season 39 will be filmed from May 16 to May 19.According to Deadline, Bialik has decided not to host a quiz show in solidarity with prominent authors, including Danger! Scribes Michele Loud, Jim Rhine and Billy Wisse join the WGA picket line. The show was able to go on because its issues were written before the strike, and because Jennings — who led the show from August to December as part of the show’s dual-anchor structure — strengthened. Bialik started her hosting term in January.

The Writers Guild of America started the strike on May 2 when the Union of Film and TV Producers failed to reach a contract that would adequately protect writers in the rapidly changing film and TV industry (see: Pay Them a Living Wage and Protect Their from artificial intelligence). The main problem stems from the rise of streaming, which has remnants that have all but been eradicated — which allowed writers to earn a living salary in previous years. Since the strike required all WGA writers to “write with a pencil,” famous works such as strange things All the big-name late-night shows are closed. Additionally, some SAG performers have pulled out of the show in a show of solidarity. The Directors Guild of America has just begun contract negotiations with AMPTP, and the SAG union will begin negotiations in the coming months.
