On Wednesday night, Kenley Jansen locked down his ninth save of the season as the Boston Red Sox held off the Atlanta Braves, winning by a final score of 5-2.

But the save had great historical significance, as it was the 400th of Jansen’s storied career.

Jansen came up to the Major Leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010 and was a part of several great teams, including their World Series championship squad in 2020.

He spent last season with the Braves, saving 41 games in 48 tries.

After the game, the new Red Sox closer was all smiles and delivered a heartfelt message to his fans after his historic achievement.

Jansen started off by expressing how honored he was to be able to accomplish this feat as a member of the Red Sox organization.

He praised the Red Sox organization for their sustained success and cited it as a reason why he joined the team in the first place.

Jansen then expressed how his goals aligned with those of his teammates and the Red Sox organization as a whole before signing off and joining his teammates to celebrate his accomplishment.

The 35-year-old is a three-time All-Star and a two-time Reliever of the Year.

He also earned All-MLB Second Team honors in 2021.

Needless to say, Jansen’s career has been full of success and winning.

Now, he has a chance to continue that in Boston with the Red Sox.

And so, Jansen celebrated his historic accomplishment after an important win for the Red Sox against his former team.
