Belinda Carlisle called to discuss her new EP with Kyle Meredith, destinywhich follows a reunion with her ’80s collaborator and songwriting legend Diane Warren.
The Go-Go co-founder discusses what it means to make her first English-language album in over 20 years, the cues between her solo music and The Go-Go’s, and bringing her classic sound to life in new productions . Carlisle also told us he wanted to sing live with Dolly Parton, Cindi Lauper and Debbie Gibson.
Elsewhere, she remembers her 1993 album real (which is celebrating its 30th anniversary) and vetoed any idea of another album from her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band.
“I think it makes sense to stop at the top and not go on for too long,” she explains. “We cemented the band’s legacy with Rock Hall, where do you start?”
