With System of a Down playing their only slated show for 2023 at the inaugural Sick New World festival in Las Vegas on Saturday, the top heavy metal band didn’t hesitate to perform for the first time in over a year. live show.
The Grammy-winning rock quartet, who have made only sporadic on-stage appearances since their controversial lockout in 2006, shut down the main stage for the day-long event and unleashed hit song after hit, including Three breakout singles, “Chop Sue! (which still terrifies singer Serj Tankian to this day), 2001’s “Toxicity” and “Aerials” toxicity.
The band also recreated several rare songs from their self-titled 1998 debut, such as “Soil,” “Darts,” “Suite Pee” and “Peehole,” the last of their first live performance in 10 years.
