Brussels Airport Recorded Nearly 2 Million Passengers in April 2023

The data provided by the Brussels Airport have revealed that last month this airport received nearly 1.9 million passengers, thus marking an increase of 18 per cent compared to the same period last year.

As for transfer passengers departing from Brussels airport, their number increased to 15 percent, which is 40 per cent more than last year.

Recent data from Brussels Airport also reveal that during April this year, total cargo volumes decreased by seven percent compared to April 2022, to a total of 60,972 tonnes.

As a result, the decline was seen due to a 36 per cent drop in truckloads. On the other hand, the full cargo segment continued to grow by eight per cent in April, while belly loads on board passenger aircraft decreased by 6 per cent. At the same time, the segment of express services saw a decrease of three per cent.

As for the main import regions, Asia topped the first list with an increase of +20 per cent compared to April 2022, followed by Africa with -14 per cent compared to last April and North America with one per cent compared to 2022.

Asia again showed the strongest growth also in the field of export with +27 per cent and North America also remains stable with +0.2 per cent, while the volumes for Africa fell by one per cent compared to April of the previous year.

Moreover, the airport of Brussels pointed out that compared to the figures reached in April 2022 during this April, the number of flight movements increased by eight per cent.

At the same time, the number of passenger flights increased by ten percent compared to 2022 and averaged 141 passengers per flight compared to 130 in April 2022. However, the number of cargo flights decreased by four per cent compared to April last year.

Previously, Brussels airport revealed that more than 1.6 million passengers registered at the airport in March this year, which means an increase of 42 per cent more than in March 2022. Meanwhile, the volume of goods during this period has decreased by eight per cent compared to last March.
