During the epic NBA showdown between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, with a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line in Game 7, Ben Simmons took to social media to show that he was watching his former team lose to the Celtics in Boston.

Simmons, who is currently playing for the Brooklyn Nets and is in limbo regarding what is in store for the rest of his NBA career, clearly wanted to get a rise out of people, or maybe it was just a lapse in judgment.

Hilariously, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins couldn’t resist the urge to crack a joke at Simmons’ expense, which was likely the same how everyone else felt when seeing he was watching the game.

Ultimately, the 76ers are going home empty-handed again after being unable to take advantage of a 3-2 series lead against the Celtics.

Jayson Tatum played out of his mind on Sunday, with the superstar forward scoring a historic 51 points in Game 7 against the visiting 76ers, which bests Stephen Curry’s 50-point recording-setting night a few weeks ago against the Sacramento Kings.

As for Simmons, the former No. 1 pick played in only 42 games for the Nets after missing the entire 2021-22 campaign and saw a drastic drop in his stats across the board.

There’s no telling what the future holds for Simmons, who has one of the most lucrative contracts in the league, as he’s set to earn $37.8 million next season and $40.3 million the year after.

With such a dropoff in production and rarely being available, Simmons’ contract is one of the worst, if not the worst, in the NBA.
