Bernard Hermann says: dizziness

The soundtrack to an Alfred Hitchcock film is so beautiful and broken in a way that reflects life. The melody is amazing, the string writing…it has influenced my writing so much. The way Bernard Herrmann understood chords, he also sometimes used string vibrato or non-vibrato. The main instrument in this score is the viola, which I think is remarkable because it is an instrument that is often overlooked.

But this soundtrack is romantic, beautiful, and tragic. Also a great movie.
