WASHINGTON — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told CNBC in an interview that he does not think the U.S. will default on its debt ceiling as tense negotiations continue.

“I don’t think ultimately we’re going to default on our debt,” McCarthy said Wednesday morning on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
