Longtime Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder has finally agreed to sell the team.

There is a buyer in place in Josh Harris, who also owns the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia 76ers.

But, there seem to be a few more hoops that need to be jumped through before the deal is finalized.

Being the majority owner of an NFL team comes with a lot of responsibility.

You have to be active in negotiations and make your voice heard at owner meetings.

That is one of the potential holdups as to why the sale has been delayed.

According to Albert Breer, Colts owner Jim Irsay said, “You want to make sure you have 32 people in the room who can discuss and make decisions together.”

The Commanders have been a poorly run franchise for many years under Snyder.

That is why the other NFL owners should be excited to get rid of him.

Washington has some of the worst facilities in the sport, and a total overhaul of its organization is needed.

It will be interesting to see what the first changes Harris makes as the team’s new owner.

He could choose to fire head coach Ron Rivera or give him one more year to show what he can do.

The rest of this offseason will be interesting for the NFL.

It will be best for the Commanders if they find a new owner before the season.

So far it appears like the sale is trending in the right direction.
