When we were all kids, we thought MLB players, and all professional athletes, were superheroes.

They were all larger than life.

As fans grow up, we all love to see the best players in the world behave and conduct themselves just like one of us.

And the truth is that Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani, despite having supernatural power and an incredibly talented arm (a unique combo in MLB history), is just like the rest of us.

He is a regular guy, full of dreams, aspirations, flaws, and good things.

He doesn’t believe he is bigger than the game, or more important than anybody just because he is incredibly talented: far from it.

His teammates describe him as a humble leader.

He is just a cool, regular guy that hangs out with his teammates and friends just like everybody else.

He loves fun, he is usually seen making jokes, he eats snacks, and he acts like your average 28-year-old.

Here is Ohtani captured by rotation mate Patrick Sandoval eating some Funyuns.

There he is, on a team bus, enjoying a snack; and Sandoval probably wanted to joke around with him so he took the picture.

The 26-23 Angels are currently third in the AL West and have concrete playoffs hopes thanks to Ohtani.

He has 11 home runs and a .888 OPS as a hitter, while also contributing a 3.05 ERA in 59 frames.

Whether or not he remains in Los Angeles for the long-term will largely depend on how far the team goes this season.

Remember, he is a free agent after the season and will likely flirt with a $600 million contract.

He does seem to enjoy his daily life with the Angels, though.
