Donald Trump will begin his trial on March 25 in a New York criminal case accused of falsifying business records related to hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, a judge said Tuesday.
The trial will begin during the presidential primary, less than eight months before the 2024 election. Trump is currently seeking the Republican nomination for that race.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan announced the trial schedule as Trump simulcasts the court hearings via video.
Merchants warned Trump that he could face sanctions if he violated an order limiting his ability to comment publicly on various aspects of the criminal case.
