Tyler Rogers, the bassist for Oklahoma emo punk band Cliffdiver, was hit by a flying metal chain while driving to a show linked to this weekend’s Punk Rock Bowling Festival in Las Vegas , the metal chain likely fell from a semi truck and nearly died.

according to the band’s post facebook page During guitarist and vocalist Matt Ehler’s performance, Rodgers lost consciousness and drummer Eliot Cooper had to move quickly to remove the bassist from the driver’s seat. Cooper was able to stop the van to safety, but Rogers was seriously injured. Paramedics came and Rogers was taken to a nearby hospital.

As for the injury, Eller wrote, “(Rodgers’s) carotid artery was punctured, jugular vein torn, neck fractured, blood loss about 2 liters required emergency surgery.” Thankfully, Rogers survived and is recovering middle.the band launched a GoFundMe campaigns To help cover medical bills and expenses, it has raised more than $50,000 so far.

As Ehler explained, the injuries were horrific: “Please note that I will mention gore and other content that may be sensitive to some people. I will also attach some photos that may be considered creepy or visceral, but We delete the worst photos we have because we don’t think they’re appropriate to share.”

Cliffdiver did not know how long Taylor would be in hospital and how his recovery was going, but pledged to support him and his family moving forward. “We do know he won’t be returning to work for quite some time and given the number of costs these events will incur for the foreseeable future, in addition to absences, we are seeking any donations to help make this happen. Things went as smoothly as possible for the target,” Eller added. “We hope to raise sufficient funds to cover all incurred medical expenses, loss of income, rehabilitation, repairs and damage and everything needed to ensure Taylor, his family and the band can fully recover and recuperate.”

The band also thanked fans for their support and asked them not to contact Taylor, his family or bandmates directly at this time, “as this is all overwhelming and we are trying to focus on healing and getting Taylor home.”
