Chika returns with “Requiem for a Dream,” her first new single since 2021. Play below.

Co-produced by Chika with Thurst and Derek Dixie, the track’s instrumental mixes UK drill and soft vocal samples to match the Grammy-nominated artist’s transition between rapping and singing in just over two minutes seamless transition.

“Thoughts of death keep me alive,” the Alabama native raps on the first verse. “Game of the fittest/I want to survive.” Switching gears on the chorus, she sings, “The darkness can go away/I pretend it’s all good/My world doesn’t end/We’ll be fine.”

Following the 2020 EP, Chika was nominated for Best New Artist at the 63rd Grammy Awards, industry game – despite Megan Thee Stallion taking home the trophy that night. ‘Requiem for a Dream’ follows Chika’s 2021 EP once Upon a timeA press release teased that the track “lays the groundwork” for her upcoming album.
