Corbin Carroll, D-backs sink Rockies

Corbin Carroll’s two-run single and two outs gave the Arizona Diamondbacks a 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies Thursday in Phoenix.

Gabriel Moreno was knocked out by Colorado’s Pierce Johnson (0-2) at the start of the ninth. Ketelmat followed with his second double of the race, pushing Moreno into third. Carroll then drove his single into midfield, knocking out both Moreno and Malte.

The win completed Arizona’s first sweep of the season, as the Diamondbacks took four games from the Rockies.

Harold Castro, Nolan Jones and Brenton Doyle each had two hits and an RBI to lead Colorado. With a 0-for-4 performance, Rockies left fielder Jurickson Profar’s record 37 hits was broken. It was the longest winning streak in the majors this season.

Padres 10, Marlins 1

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a four and Joe Musgrove hit a no-hitter in the sixth as San Diego beat host Miami.

Tatis went 3-for-4 with a triple-double, two points and a walk. Musgrove (3-2) went six innings, allowing one unearned run, three hits and three walks, while fanning out three runs.

Jesus Luzardo (4-4) allowed five runs, four hits and a walk for Miami. The Marlins scored their single shot in the third quarter. Jonathan Davis walks, steals second, catcher Austin Nola misses third and scores on Luis Arraez’s sacrifice fly . Arraez also broke the no-hitter with an infield single in the sixth.

Blue Jays 3, Brewers 1

Kevin Goldsman struck out 11 runs and Matt Chapman hit a two-run homer as hosts Toronto beat Milwaukee.

Bo Bichette added a solo homer for the Blue Jays, who got two of three from the Brewers. Goldsman (4-3) allowed 6 2/3 innings with five hits and two walks.

The Brewers have lost five of their last seven games in their past two series. Starter Freddy Peralta (5-5) struck out in six innings while allowing three runs, six hits and two walks.

Mets 4, Phillies 2

Max Scherzer pitched a strong seven innings for his second straight start, while Mark Canha continued to torment Philadelphia, hitting another two-run homer as hosts New York completed a three-game sweep.

Scherzer (5-2) allowed two runs (one free) on five hits and a walk, while striking out nine. Jeff McNeil had an RBI single in the third, and then Canha hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the fourth to leave Taijuan Walker (4-3).

Nick Castellanos contributed three singles and one sacrifice fly for the Phillies, who have lost four straight and 12 of 17.
