The Suns Make Major Coaching Decision

There are several coaching vacancies in the NBA right now but few are as coveted as the one with the Phoenix Suns.

For the last few years, the Suns have been on the verge of true greatness and multiple coaches would love to lead them.

They recently fired Monty Williams and have been searching for a replacement.

That search has come to an end.

Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Suns are planning to hire Frank Vogel as the team’s next head coach.

According to Wojnarowski, both sides are currently working out a long-term deal.

Vogel has been without a job in the league for a year now.

He last coached the Los Angeles Lakers from 2019 to 2022.

Although he found a lot of success with the Lakers and even led them to their latest championship win, he also had to battle with a lot of challenges such as injuries, the COVID pandemic, and a constantly-shifting roster.

Before the Lakers, Vogel coached the Orlando Magic and the Indiana Pacers.

He will now be in charge of a team that has a lot of potential and a lot of attention.

The Suns reached the Finals a couple of years ago and have gotten to the playoffs for the last two seasons.

But they have never been able to go all the way and win it all.

The front office wants that to change.

Their desire for more only got stronger in February when the team acquired Kevin Durant to go alongside Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton.

No one is sure which of those players will be on the roster when the new season starts.

But the goal of the Finals will still loom large.

Vogel is surely aware that the expectations are high for him and his team and will get straight to work to meet them.
