The Dolphins Show Off Their Newest Superstar

The Miami Dolphins have a sense of optimism for the 2023 season that they haven’t had in a long time.

Last season, they showed flashes of promise as third-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa took a big step forward, while new acquisition Tyreek Hill had a career-high in receiving yards.

Now, the Dolphins’ defense looks to be a lot stronger thanks to the trade with the Los Angeles Rams that brought them veteran star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Dolphins fans recently got their first look at Ramsey in his new uniform.

Over the last seven seasons, Ramsey has been one of the NFL’s best at his position, and he has six Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro first-team nods to his name.

He was a key member of the 2021 Rams team that won the Super Bowl, and at age 28, he should have plenty of high-level defensive football left in his tank.

In Miami, he will line up opposite Xavien Howard, who is a stud corner in his own right, as he has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons.

Pass defense was the Dolphins’ weak point in 2022 — they finished just 26th in passing touchdowns allowed and 27th in passing yards given up.

Those numbers should improve significantly with both Ramsey and Howard containing opposing wideouts on both sides of the secondary.

The key to Miami’s success this fall and winter will be Tagovailoa staying healthy.

He had multiple concussions last season, and many have been concerned about his future, to the point where some suggested he should retire.
