The Minnesota Timberwolves saw their season come to an end in the same way a few others in the Western Conference did, with the Denver Nuggets dominating them in the NBA playoffs.

Even though Karl-Anthony Towns and company were able to get one win over the Nuggets in the first round, which is more than can be said for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, the team was clearly outmatched with some glaring flaws exposed.

The team seems like a mess moving forward, with no real direction and some pieces on the squad simply not fitting the way the franchise anticipated.

The Rudy Gobert trade looks like one of the worst deals made in NBA history, while Towns continue to be good but not great, leaving a lot of questions about whether he’s the right star to build around.

With Anthony Edwards emerging as a potential superstar in the near future, the Timberwolves looking to trade Towns and get as much as they can for him right now makes a lot of sense, and it could happen, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report via NBA Central.

The real question for Minnesota is what can they get for Towns, who has proven to be one of the most talented and versatile bigs in the NBA, but unable to turn it on during playoff time.

There’s no doubt that his value won’t get much higher than it is now unless he has a breakout year, which means it may be now or never for the Timberwolves.
