MLB Writer Comments On Recent Oakland A’s Drama

The Oakland Athletics have found themselves in the news for all the wrong reasons this year.

Back in May, it was announced that the A’s were planning to move to Las Vegas.

However, that has recently hit a snag and resulted in more drama.

It’s obvious at this point that the team’s owner, John Fisher, is largely to blame for the decline of the A’s.

However, the Athletics have gone on a little streak recently, having just swept the Milwaukee Brewers and defeated the Tampa Bay Rays.

On Twitter, legendary baseball writer and analyst Peter Gammons commented on the A’s hot streak and reminded fans not to blame the front office, manager Mark Kotsay, or the players.

Gammons noted that the players in Oakland are trying to win and are doing their best with what they have, but that Fisher is the root cause of the team’s issues.

Fisher has made the decision to tank and trade away the team’s best assets such as Matt Olson, Matt Chapman, Chris Bassitt, Sean Murphy, and others.

As a result, the A’s have gone from being a postseason contender to bottom feeders in the American League West.

But Gammons’ tweet is an important reminder that it’s Fisher who is to blame for the team’s misfortunes.

Another important thing to remember is that even general managers can only do so much in situations such as these.

Ultimately, it starts at the top with the ownership group, and they are the ones that should ultimately be held accountable.
