Petco Partners with Hip-Hop Icon Snoop Dogg for Innovative Pet Care Campaign

peko The company said Wednesday it has teamed up with rap icon Snoop Dogg for a new pet care campaign.
The collaboration features Snoopy’s Petco Picks, which include toys, treats and grooming items, as well as social content featuring behind-the-scenes footage of Snoopy’s relationship with pets, including his reflections on being a devoted dog owner, Petco said in a statement Press release.
“My pet has to look good, feel good and smell good,” says Snoop Dogg.
The campaign’s first commercial featured Snoop in human form as a Doberman Pinscher, a nod to the rapper’s hit song “Who Am I? (What’s My Name?)” from the rapper’s 1993 debut album “Doggystyle” tribute.
U.S. pet owners will spend an estimated $136.8 billion on their furry friends by 2022, a 13.2% increase from the previous year, according to one statistic. American Pet Products Association Survey.
“We recognize that pet parents want the best bang for their buck and are looking for as attractive deals on high-quality products as possible,” Petco’s chief marketing officer Katie Nauman said in a news release.
Petco CEO Ron Coughlin said last year that Americans continue to spend money on their pets, even in tough times.

Petco shares are down about 9% year-to-date, trailing rivals chewywhose shares are up about 6% so far this year.
Petco has relaunched critical care premium A membership program in March 2022 as part of an effort to increase competitiveness in the pet care market. The program offers consumers savings and additional benefits, the company said in an email.
