Young Mets Star Shows Off His Supreme Confidence

The New York Mets have been looking for production from their catcher spot all season.

The season started with Tomas Nido and Omar Narvaez as the two catchers.

But, that was because the Mets felt their top prospect Francisco Alvarez was not ready.

It did not take long for the Mets to give Alvarez his chance.

The catcher was once the top prospect in baseball and has been lauded for his ability to hit with power.

The 21-year-old has taken the league by storm this year.

He has even become his own favorite player.

According to Sarah Langs, Alvarez responded “myself” when asked who is his favorite player to watch.

Alvarez has been worthy of the hype he has received as a prospect.

In 44 games this season he is batting .243 with 12 home runs and 25 RBI.

Not many teams have the luxury of a catcher that produces on offense.

But it looks like the Mets have a future star at the position.

Catchers have long been looked at as a defense-first position.

While Alvarez is a good defender, his offensive ability is what impresses the most.

The Mets have underachieved so far this season.

They are 31-35 and sit in fourth place in the NL East.

After a 100-win season last year, the Mets are in danger of not being a playoff team.

It will be interesting to see if this Mets team can turn their season around.

They have the players in place they just need to stay healthy and perform to the best of their ability.
