The Chicago Bears had the worst record in the NFL last season, but they have assembled a roster that just may surprise people this fall.
They traded the top pick in April’s draft to the Carolina Panthers in return for star wide receiver D.J. Moore and multiple picks, and they also brought in running back D’Onta Foreman, who appears to be up-and-coming.
But by no means are they done shaping their roster.
Chicago leads the NFL in salary cap space, which means they could add another piece or two before the season starts if they wish to do so.

No one outside of the Chicagoland area is expecting the Bears to make the playoffs this coming season, but they could be on their way to respectability.
They have made the playoffs just seven times in the last 30 years and only twice in the last dozen years, and their lone Super Bowl win in the 1985 season stands in contrast to decades of struggles.
Luckily for them, the NFC North appears to have gotten weaker, and although most are expecting the Detroit Lions to win the division, the Lions don’t appear to be world-beaters.
Overall, the NFC doesn’t have a ton of depth, which could keep the window just slightly ajar for the Bears to string together a few extra wins.
If they don’t use their cap space this summer and it rolls into next offseason, perhaps a few extra wins could make them more attractive to a key free agent or two in 2024.
