Former Butthole Surfers drummer Teresa Taylor (née Nervosa) has died after battling lung disease.
Taylor’s co-star Cheryl Curtice announces her death Facebook Monday, June 19. “Teresa Taylor dear friend and lover. I want to let you know the sad news. Teresa passed away peacefully and consciously in her sleep this weekend,” Curtis wrote. “She was so brave, even in the face of a terrible illness. We are all blessed to have her beautiful, strong spirit in our lives. She will always be missed. We will have a memorial service at some point in the future. I Love you, Teresa dear.”
“She will always live in our hearts. RIP dear friend,” Butthole Surfers wrote in their own post Facebook Page.
Taylor was the drummer for Butthole Surfers with King Coffey from 1983 to 1989, appearing on shows including Psychic…powerless…another man’s sac, rembrandt ponyand Locust Abortion Technician. She briefly rejoined the band in 2008.
Taylor was also featured in Richard Linklater’s 1991 film, slacker, playing a sassy woman trying to sell a Pap smear from Madonna. Her character appears on the movie’s poster.
In November 2021, Taylor announced that she had been diagnosed with end-stage lung disease.
