In this episode the story behind the songdrummer Nick Mason takes us on one of the production’s most famous songs: “Time.”
A seven-minute philosophical epic, “Time” remains Pink Floyd’s must-have single. From its signature, sample-based intro to David Gilmour’s guitar solo and reprise of “Breathe,” the track is ambitious, uplifting, and the best tune the band has to offer.
In addition to reflecting on “Time,” Mason looks back at the band’s origins, the tragic story of founding member Syd Barrett, and Barrett’s final contributions to Pink Floyd before quitting the band. Mason also spoke about the Beatles’ influence on the band, as well as his new band, Nick Mason’s Secret Disc.
