Almost Half of Croatian Adults Went on at Least One Private Multi-Day Trip Last Year

Croatian Bureau Statistics (CBS) has revealed that last year, there were 1.6 million people in Croatia aged 15 and over who went on at least one private multi-day trip. This number represents 48.2 per cent of the population in that age group.

According to the same source, comparing this data to the previous years, there was a 21.7 per cent increase in the number of Croatian residents aged 15 and over going on private multi-day trips in 2022 compared to 2021, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

However, when compared to 2019, there is still a decrease of 12.1 per cent in the number of people going on such trips.

Last year, Croatian residents aged 15 and over took a total of four million private multi-day trips. Out of these trips, 2.9 million (71.7 per cent) were made within Croatia, while 1.1 million (28.3 per cent) were made abroad.

Comparing the data to the previous year, there was a 13.8 per cent increase in the number of private multi-day trips in 2022. On the other hand, there was a slight decrease of 4.1 per cent in the number of trips made within Croatia, while the number of trips made abroad doubled.

CBS data also show that the most popular destination for Croatian residents travelling abroad was Bosnia and Herzegovina, accounting for 28.5 per cent of all private multi-day trips abroad. This was followed by trips to:

  • Germany (10.1 per cent)
  • Slovenia (9.3 per cent)
  • Austria (7.7 per cent)
  • Italy (7.6 per cent)
  • Hungary (6.8 per cent)
  • Serbia (five per cent)

Moreover, in June, July, and August 2022, a total of 1.9 million private multi-day trips were made, representing a 46.6 per cent increase in the total private multi-day trips in that year.

Within Croatia, the highest number of private multi-day trips occurred in August, with 588,000 trips, representing 20.3 per cent of the total private multi-day trips within Croatia. June followed closely behind with 516,000 trips, making up 17.8 per cent of the total private multi-day trips within Croatia.

Regarding trips made abroad, June had the highest number of private multi-day trips, with 161,000 trips, accounting for 14.1 per cent of the total private multi-day trips abroad. December came in second with 151,000 trips, representing 13.2 per cent of the total private multi-day trips abroad.
