amazon The company is holding its annual Prime Day sale on July 11-12 Announce Wednesday.
For the first time, Amazon will offer invite-only deals where members of its Prime subscription club can request invites to get discounts on items that typically sell out quickly. Prime Day deals will also appear on other retailers’ sites through its Buy with Prime program, which enables third parties to add Amazon’s payment and fulfillment services to their own sites.
Amazon launched Prime Day in 2015. Part of the purpose of the discount celebration is to secure new Prime subscribers, promote Amazon’s products and services, and boost sales mid-year.This activity is also the case for other retail sites such as Target, walmart and Best Buyoften offering competitive discounts to customers.
Total U.S. online sales during Amazon’s Prime Day event last year topped $11.9 billion, higher than the total e-commerce transactions generated during the 2021 event, according to Adobe Analytics.
Amazon broke with tradition last year by hosting a second Prime Day-like deals extravaganza. It held a “Prime Early Access Sale” last October to try to boost sales ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Earlier this month, Amazon told sellers it was accepting submissions for a “Prime Fall Deal Event,” which will begin in the fourth quarter, according to a notice seen by CNBC. The notice did not announce any dates for the event.
Amazon declined to comment.
