After failing to reach the NFL playoffs last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to get back on track during the 2023 campaign, with second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett getting some more experience under center and the team coming together on the defensive side of the football.

Although the Steelers will have their work cut out for them in arguably one of the best divisions in the league, competing with the reloaded Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns and the Super Bowl title-contending Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh might be up for the task under longtime head coach Mike Tomlin.

On Tuesday, the team made another addition to the defense, with the Steelers signing former Chicago Bears standout Nick Kwiatkoski and releasing wideout Anthony Miller, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Kwiatkoski has bounced around the league a bit since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Bears, as he’s played for the Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons before landing in Pittsburgh ahead of the 2023 campaign.

After playing in 12 games for the Falcons last season, Kwiatkoski has recorded 293 tackles, 12 pass deflections, 7.0 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions throughout his career in the league.

Even though Kwiatkoski made his most significant impact with the Bears, he’ll have to prove his worth in Pittsburgh to make the final roster, with training camp for the Steelers being right around the corner before they open the season against the San Francisco 49ers on September 10.

Kwiatkoski’s roster spot is by no means set in stone, as he’ll have to impress the coaching staff to remain on heading into the season.
