Even hands-on with developers, financial analysts and select media members apple The company plans to unveil new Vision Pro headsets and release updated versions of existing products, it was reported Monday. Bloomberg’s report.
Apple is expected to stick to its traditional fall release of the iPhone 15, but the company will also roll out a series of upgrades across all of its major product lines over the next 12 months.
According to Bloomberg, two new 24-inch iMacs are coming soon. Apple has also begun early development work on a larger 30-inch iMac, which will be the company’s largest all-in-one screen size yet. The iPad Pro and iPad Air are also expected to be refreshed, and both iPad Pro models will eventually feature OLED screens.
A new Apple Watch Ultra is also reportedly expected, along with the next-generation Apple Watch 9 in two sizes.
According to Bloomberg, the MacBook Pro will come in 13-inch, 14-inch and 16-inch models, all powered by Apple’s new M3 chipset. However, the M3 won’t power Apple’s $3,500 headphones, which will rely on Apple’s current-generation M2 processor. Apple already unveiled the new 15-inch MacBook Air at WWDC, but Bloomberg reports that another refresh is already in the works.
In addition to new products, consumers and investors are also watching sales of the company’s Vision Pro. Apple is the latest entrant into the virtual reality space, and while the hands-on experience has been largely positive, some people have reported cases of motion sickness or the uncomfortable weight of the headset. Still, the specs suggest the Vision Pro is more powerful than nearly all of its competitors, with two high-definition screens and a custom processor to reduce lag.
Apple is expected to loosen its tight controls on who can take the headphones home, expanding it to only its most senior engineers and executives, according to Bloomberg. “Select” developers will also reportedly get access to the headset starting next month, as the company looks to flesh out the VisionOS ecosystem.
Work has reportedly begun on two new forked product lines, one a second-generation high-end model that will be a continuation of the original Vision Pro, and the other a lower-end version.
