NFL Insider Believes The Jets Won’t Be The Highest Bidder For Dalvin Cook

The New York Jets haven’t taken a single snap with Aaron Rodgers on the team, yet they’re already one of the teams to beat out of the AFC in 2023.

As usually happens with star-studded teams, they’ve been tied to pretty much every single big name that’s become available in the league throughout the course of the offseason.

That’s why it’s not a surprise to see that they could be in the mix to sign veteran star Dalvin Cook, who was recently released by the Minnesota Vikings and has gauged plenty of league-wide interest.

Notably, though, NFL insider Ian Rapoport believes the Jets won’t be the highest bidder for his services, citing that other teams might as well offer him more money.

Nonetheless, Rapoport and Pat McAfee compared the Jets’ current situation with what happened when Tom Brady left the New England Patriots to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, citing that multiple veterans would rather take a pay cut to try and get a chance to win a Super Bowl.

Rapoport says that the Jets’ title window is wide open and they don’t know for how long that’s gonna be, so it makes sense for multiple veterans — such as Cook — to pay a little tax, per se, and take less money if that’s what it takes to win a championship.

Cook is a multi-time Pro Bowler and one could argue that he’s still in his prime years, but given how brutal the market for running backs has been as of late, he’s got a tough decision to make.
