After making an incredible run in the NBA playoffs to reach the Western Conference Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers have a newfound sense of purpose moving forward, as it became clear this team can contend.

Although the big moves are yet to come for the Lakers, with NBA free agency right around the corner, the team was able to add a few new pieces to the championship puzzle during and after the 2023 NBA Draft.

With the two picks the team owned in the draft the Lakers brought in Jalen Hood-Schifino and Maxwell Lewis, who are two talented youngsters that might be able to make an impact if able to see the floor next season.

Along with bringing in Hood-Schifino and Lewis, Los Angeles added a few undrafted free agents in the form of Colin Castleton and D’Moi Hodge, who the team showcased on their Twitter account on Tuesday.

Even though the Lakers are hoping to contend in the West next season, meaning these young players may be seen in street clothes more often than in purple and gold, anything can happen throughout an 82-game campaign.

Austin Reaves is the perfect example of what can happen when an undrafted free agent gets an opportunity to shine on the court, and he’s about to get paid for his efforts while also being a crucial player to the team’s title hopes moving forward.

It’ll be interesting to see what other moves the Lakers make this summer as the team gears up for what could be another exciting season in Los Angeles.
