Every Film, Including Asteroid City

Welcome to Anatomy, where we take abstract teardowns of a band’s catalog, a director’s film credits, or some other important pop culture favorite. It’s exact science over a few beers. At this moment, we enter the bizarre and heartwarming world of Wes Anderson. This article was originally published in 2018 and has been updated.

“I wouldn’t say I care or obsess over details.” — Wes Anderson

Rococo Grotesques and Palettes The Grand Budapest Hotel otherwise. It’s like having a closet full of carefully photographed, artfully bumpy board games royal tenenbaum family. Or use the Satyajit Ray sheet music, dusted and carefully placed on darjeeling co., ltd. (except Marc Jacobs custom Louis Vuitton luggage). So what about placing the kitten in the left position next to the record player? moonrise kingdom; Stage curtains and custom paintings rushmore; or a custom split boat in two life water sports? ! ?

Sorry, this tirade gets in the way of the point: Wes Anderson may explain He’s not obsessed with detail, but his talent, his knack for detail, is a natural for the now-star director. They crafted the world of Anderson’s wonderful film. They create playgrounds for his flawed characters, his powerful scores and soundtracks, his no-nonsense comedic parodies, and most of all, his perfectly designed imagery and art.

He’s Lubitsch, he’s Kurosawa, he’s Martin Scorsese — he’s the best and weirdest student at UT Austin’s film school, and his films have a curated library of inspiration behind them that we see every day. Still fascinated by his work. Wes Anderson’s movies are funny, touching, and obsessively enjoyable.

Just because our rankings don’t match yours doesn’t mean you can’t start one yourself. Do it in the style of Max Fisher. Be sure to print it out in Futura.
