The Miami Heat have been involved in multiple rumors for months now.

Even before making it to the NBA Finals, the word around the league was that they could be in the mix for a trade for Damian Lillard.

Fast forward to today, and Lillard’s trade request has made this even a bigger possibility, which has obviously led Tyler Herro to believe he’s on the verge of being traded.

According to Heat insider Ethan Skolnick in the 5 On The Floor podcast, Herro has been telling people that he expects to be traded, as reported by Naveen Ganglani.

Notably, Herro has played a prominent role on the Heat since being drafted, and the team made him untouchable in trade talks multiple times.

However, he’s failed to take a leap forward in his development, so it’s become painfully evident that they could be better off with a bonafide and proven superstar right now, such as Lillard.

Moreover, even if he hasn’t broken out just yet, he’s still quite young, with a high upside, and will be under team control for years to come, so he’s obviously the team’s most valuable trade asset.

The Heat will explore multiple avenues to try and pair Lillard with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, and their chances of landing him without parting ways with Herro — either by sending him to the Portland Trail Blazers or somewhere else — are close to zero.

The NBA is a ruthless business, but at least it seems like the Kentucky guard is getting ready to pack his bags, so he won’t be caught off guard.
