Olivia Rodrigo Just Saw Depeche Mode & The Cure with Her Dad



Olivia Rodrigo may be one of the modern pop princesses, but the 20-year-old singer recently got a taste of the ’80s at Depeche Mode and The Cure concerts with her dad, as she Like the interview shared on the new album Fashion.

Rodrigo is at A-1 record store in the East Village with writer Jia Tolentino, musing about an album by The Cure she found while digging through boxes. “I’m going to see them with my dad in two weeks,” she said at the time. “He introduced me to all the bands he’d seen when I was my age,” he added, adding that Depeche Mode was one of the list of traditional acts they’ve seen on stage recently.

Elsewhere in the profile, Rodrigo elaborates on how her parents were instrumental in rooting her musical influences. They weren’t just fans of ’80s goth new wave, though; ’90s grunge and early 20th-century alternative artists were part of their repertoire: think No Doubt, The White Stripes, and Weezer.

Rodrigo remembers seeing the latter’s band at her first concert at the county fair.Back in the eighties again, there was a youtube video At the age of eight, she sang Mötley Crüe’s “Home Sweet Home” in a talent competition.

On Friday, Rodrigo returned with song of the week “Vampire,” the lead single from her upcoming second album, GUTSairing September 8 on Geffen.
