U.S. Army Member Pleads Not Guilty

The U.S. Army member who shot and killed two people at the Beyond Wonderland music festival in Washington last month has pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges, according to reports. seattle times.

James M. Kelly, 26, faces two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of first-degree assault with domestic violence.

He is accused of killing Brandi Escamilla, 29, and Jocelyn Ruiz, 26, in a June 17 shooting at a campground outside the Canyons Amphitheater in George, Wash. , and wounded three others. A detective shot and killed Kelly, and police arrested him.

A motive for the shooting has not been determined, but Kelly reportedly told investigators he was hallucinating after taking hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Kelly was being held without bond. His next hearing is scheduled for July 25. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

Beyond Wonderland is a two day EDM festival presented by Insomniac Events. Following the shooting, the festival was canceled the next day.
