On Friday, the Chicago Cubs traveled to Yankee Stadium to take on the New York Yankees.

They sent former Yankee Jameson Taillon to the mound against left-hander Carlos Rodon.

Taillon tossed eight scoreless innings against his former club and led the Cubs to a 3-0 victory.

However, it wasn’t just an ordinary win for the Cubbies.

It was their first ever win at Yankee Stadium.

In fact, the Cubs hadn’t ever beaten the Yankees in their home ballpark, dating all the way back to 1932.

Finally, the North Siders snapped that streak.

On Twitter, Bleacher Report took note of this momentous occasion.

Cody Bellinger stayed hot and hit his ninth home run of the season, which proved to be the difference in the game.

The Cubs added two more runs and helped put Taillon in cruise control.

Chicago improved to 41-46 on the year and came to within seven games of first place in the NL Central, which is currently occupied by the Cincinnati Reds.

But it’s certainly been a long time coming for the Cubs when it comes to winning in New York over the Yankees.

On Friday, that drought finally came to an end.

With the trade deadline looming, it remains to be seen what the Cubs will end up doing, but a big win at Yankee Stadium may help point them back in the right direction with the first half coming to a close.
