The Houston Rockets are a team that seemed determined to improve their roster and coaching staff heading into the NBA offseason, with the franchise bringing in Ime Udoka to be a leader on the sideline while also making some solid moves in the NBA Draft and free agency.

Although the Rockets have dominated the headlines for signing Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks, as well as adding Udoka to be Stephen Silas’ successor, the team also brought in an incredibly talented rookie in the form of Amen Thompson.

As one-half of talented twins, with his brother Ausar Thompson being drafted by the Detroit Pistons one pick later at No. 5, the Overtime Elite product got a chance to put his skills on display on Friday in the NBA Summer League.

Scoot Henderson of the Portland Trail Blazers may have been the talk of this matchup with the Rockets on Friday night, but Thompson left his mark, showing his lightening quick speed on this play, via Bradeaux.

Thompson was so quick with his first step on this play that the cameraman couldn’t keep up with him as he made his way to the basket.

The rookie made his defender look like a cone in the street as he burst to the rim and finished with relative ease.

That kind of speed is going to help him be successful on the next level, as he could become one of those players that teams find incredibly tough to keep up with while he paves his way to having a sizable role with Houston moving forward.
