With the upcoming NFL season just around the corner, there’s still a handful of players that haven’t found their footing and their next destination in this league.

Some have gauged little-to-no interest, others are still waiting for the right opportunity, and others are going through contract disputes.

Whatever the case, NFL analyst Craig Carton took the liberty of ranking the top-five players still unsigned ahead of the 2023 NFL season.

At No. 5, he chose DeAndre Hopkins, citing that the talented wide receiver is reportedly waiting for a mysterious third team before choosing between the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, the two reported leading candidates to get him.

Then, he talked about Dalvin Cook, wondering why no one has rushed to get him signed — no pun intended — as he’s reportedly just asking for $5 million after having four seasons of 1,000+ rushing yards and finally being healthy and playing all 17 games last season.

At No. 3, Carton talked about Saquon Barkley’s well-known situation and his contract standoff with the New York Giants, as he currently ruses to play under the franchise tag and has even threatened to sit out for the season.

Likewise, he talked about Josh Jacobs and his situation, stating that he’s the only shot the Las Vegas Raiders have at being a .500 team next season, urging them to get a deal done now before he’s also forced to play under the franchise tag.

Last but not least, he made the controversial choice to state that Carson Wentz is the best unsigned player right now, explaining that this is a quarterback-driven league and that Wentz had no good skill players and played for two dysfunctional franchises, so people shouldn’t hold that against him for being an average QB.

Needless to say, that one led to some interesting reactions.
