Greta Van Fleet’s Sam Kiszka interviews Kyle Meredith about the band’s new album, star catcher.
The bassist explained why the band returned to its roots on a new batch of songs, many of which were written on the fly in the studio with producer Dave Cobb. He also talks about how frontman Josh Kiszka finds himself digging into his personal history more than he has in the past.
As for the lyrics, the band constructs their world more broadly, detailing the creation of the universe and the mythical characters that make up this new chapter. Kizka also spoke to Meredith about the unreleased second half of the song “Runway Blues,” how the movie influenced their writing, and their discussions about a possible future feature film.

“I thought we could start with the score and work our way up to some short films,” he explained. “I imagine maybe eventually there will be a Greta Van Fleet-curated movie about Greta Van Fleet’s inner universe. Is now the time, I have no idea.”
