The Los Angeles Lakers still have two roster spots left.

GM Rob Pelinka recently claimed that they’ll leave one spot open for the beginning of training camp, so they still need to make one more move before that.

Some reports state that they’re going to be in the mix for a stretch five, and Jovan Buha of The Athletic recently revealed that they could be interested in Christian Wood (via NBA Central).

The market for Wood has been pretty much non-existent thus far.

He played his way into a huge contract after a breakout year with the Detroit Pistons, but he’s been unable to keep up that same level of play ever since.

Multiple teams have reportedly reached out to him, but no one is willing to meet the same kind of salary he used to make, so he’ll likely have to settle for something close to the veteran minimum.

Needless to say, the Lakers would give him a legit chance of winning an NBA championship, although his playing time would most likely be tied to how well he performs.

The Lakers already signed Jaxson Hayes, who’s obviously a much better rim protector, but Wood is a much more versatile scorer, not to mention the fact that he can knock down the three-ball occasionally.

His skill set seems perfect for a Lakers team looking to get more versatile and be able to throw different looks at their rivals, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be interested in taking as much money as they could or would like to offer him
