Judas Priest Replace Ozzy Osbourne on Power Trip Festival Lineup

A day after Ozzy Osbourne announced his retirement from the Power Trip festival in Indio, California, legendary metal performer Judas Priest has been named as his successor.

Revealing that he is not yet ready for an October show, Oz said: “The band that will replace me on Power Trip will be announced soon. They are my personal friends and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. “

This has led to widespread speculation that Judas Priest will fill the void, as Osborne and Priest frontman Rob Halford are very close friends.

It was officially announced on Tuesday (July 11) that Judas Priest has indeed been cast for Saturday’s (October 7) show with AC/DC.

“Power Trippers, are you ready for Judas Priest-style heavy metal?” the band asked in an enthusiastic statement. “We’re excited and ready to raise our horns high together.”

The rest of the Power Trip’s signature lineup remains unchanged, with Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden performing on Friday night (October 6) and Metallica and Tool wrapping up the three-day event on Sunday (October 8) .Tickets are can be found here.

Osborne hasn’t performed a full show since 2018. A series of health problems and an ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease forced him to cancel the remainder of his “No More Tours 2” farewell tour. Among the canceled outings is a UK/European excursion which will be supported by a Judas priest.

Meanwhile, guitarist Richie Faulkner recently said that Judas Priest has been putting the finishing touches on a new album serious consequences It’s “almost done”. After celebrating their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022, the band is currently planning a UK/European tour in 2024. As of now, the Power Trip show is the only show on their 2023 itinerary.
