Four years after her last album, Cherry Glazerr will release September 29 with a I don’t want you anymore. As a preview, bandleader Clementine Creevy shared the record’s lead single, “Soft Like a Flower.”
Creevey explained in a press release i don’t want you anymore marks her “most personal and raw music to date,” in part because of the serenity the pandemic has imposed on her. “I’ve been taking a hard look at myself and my relationships over the years and writing about them,” she added. “When you’re always away (to travel), you don’t quite know where your relationships stand, romantic or otherwise. You’re not thinking about the work of maintaining them.”
In the eerie, brooding “Soft as a Flower,” Creevey seems to assess his place in an overdependent relationship, recalling experiences of delusions and total surrender. “I love that you killed me,” she repeats to the accompaniment of wall-of-sound guitar.
