Shania Twain has announced an ultra-luxe 25th anniversary edition of her celebrated third album, come on, which will be available via Mercury/UMe on August 25th. The new release will feature many additional tracks, including new remixes and live duets with Elton John, Chris Martin, Alison Krauss and more. Check out the details below.
First published in November 1997, come on has left an impressive mark on the field of pop culture. Not only is it the best-selling album by a female solo artist of all time (over 40 million copies sold), but it also laid the foundation for Twain’s legendary ability to mix genres and styles. Includes hits such as “You’re Still the One”, “Man!” and more. I feel like a woman! ” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” an album that helped her prove that the combination of country music and mainstream pop was a winning combination.
Now, with the 25th anniversary edition, Twain hopes to honor the songs that helped shape her career. “and come on, it was important to me to make what I consider to be the best record of my life,” she said in a press statement. “That’s why there are so many songs on it. I thought, ‘Let’s load it up in case there’s no other chance. We take no reservations. I think this might be my only chance to really make an impact as a follow-up to my previous album (which was already diamond certified). I knew I had more than a diamond album. “
Twain went on to explain that the two versions of the album — an American remix with country-style arrangements and an international remix with drum machines and synthesizers — were designed to appeal to her broad audience. “My audience is wider than the average country type—they’re from all over the world!” she wrote. “We’ve had the privilege of making multiple versions of the songs to suit each audience, and I’m delighted to see them all packaged together for re-release.
