The Houston Texans may be at the ground level of their rebuilding project, but the organization seems to have plenty of hope for the coming years.

They have an incoming rookie quarterback in C.J. Stroud who seems to have star potential, and their new head coach, DeMeco Ryans, is looking to build a culture centered around a winning defense.

On the other side of the football, the Texans’ wide receivers are working out together and building chemistry just days before the official start of training camp, via Nick Schwager on Twitter.

Houston may not have an impressive wide receiver room, but they have brought in Robert Woods, a 10-year veteran who played on the 2021 Los Angeles Rams team that won the Super Bowl.

Tank Dell was a third-round draft pick this year, while Xavier Hutchinson was taken in the sixth round by the Texans.

The team lost Brandin Cooks, its No. 1 wideout last season, as he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this offseason.

Obviously, the Texans will be a work in progress, and they will need more pieces in order to return to the playoffs, but building a culture should be the first thing on their minds.

They finished 27th in points allowed and last in rushing yards allowed last season, and there is no doubt that Ryans, who got the San Francisco 49ers to the NFC Championship Game the last two seasons as their defensive coordinator, wants to change that big-time.

The future is now for the Texans, and it is refreshing to see them seize the opportunity even though a playoff appearance this season seems very unlikely.
