Being the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft comes with a lot of fame, fortune, and whatnot, but not everything is good.
That’s especially the case when you’re a prospect as hyped as Victor Wembanyama was before the NBA Draft.
That’s why league legend Kevin Garnett told Ben Golliver of The Washington Post that Wembanyama would have a lot of people to prove wrong, as he’ll have a target on his back every single time he’s on the court for being the No. 1 pick.
Kevin Garnett on Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama: “He’s No. 1. Absolutely he has a target on his back. … Coming from high school, I had a bunch of targets on my back. But that’s part of it.” pic.twitter.com/TaUnzbZCLk

Garnett cited some of his own experience as a player that made it to the league straight out of high school.
And even though he was a bit of a late bloomer, he wound up being one of the greatest players of all time.
Wembanyama has all the tools to become the next big thing.
But as good and mesmerizing as his potential is, so are the concerns about his height.
His handles are elite for a guy his size, and his rim protecting could translate to the next level immediately.
But how will his body hold up?
And will he be able to be an efficient ball-handler against elite defenders in the NBA?
Those are just two of the many questions that come with a player like Wemby.
Whatever the case, chances are that it’ll take a long while before we get to see the finished product.
He might even struggle in his rookie season, and he’ll have to stay mentally strong to shut down all the outside noise if that happens.
