The 26-year-old has just come off two brief starts. He entered the 15-day IL with back strain after his last appearance in Seattle on June 30, when he allowed five hits, three on bases and allowed four runs in just three innings. He also failed to complete four innings in his previous starts.
McClanahan had two bullpen workouts on July 9 and one on Thursday, and manager Kevin Cash said he hit 95 mph during those low-intensity workouts.
