Adam Wainwright is set to retire at the end of the 2023 season.

The St. Louis Cardinals legend pitched a solid game on Monday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, helping lead the Cardinals to an important win.

On Tuesday, the Diamondbacks gave him a nice retirement gift, with this week marking the final time Wainwright will appear at Chase Field as a player.

Wainwright currently runs a charity fantasy football league called “Big League Impact,” which raises money to provide basic services to those who may not have access in certain countries.

The D-Backs had a ceremony for the right-hander on the field before Tuesday’s game and announced that they had donated $5,000 to the cause.

On Twitter, Wainwright thanked the D-Backs for their kind gesture.

Wainwright has been very active in the St. Louis community since making his Major League debut, but he has expanded his charitable efforts far beyond St. Louis and all around the world.

The 41-year-old runs Big League Impact each year in an attempt to raise money for people around the world who may be lacking basic necessities in life.

Wainwright expressed his gratitude to the D-Backs for their act of kindness and also praised them for their tribute video before the game.

He finished off his tweet by telling them that he would not forget their generosity.

Wainwright only has a few months left in his career, but he’ll certainly make the most of them.
