The New England Patriots have been a commonly discussed team throughout the offseason.

There have been growing reports about the current state of this team, and many have indicated that Bill Belichick could be on the hot seat.

Recently, there has been significant traction surrounding Ezekiel Elliott, who met with the team in hopes of joining their roster.

When asked about Elliott, per NBC Sports Boston, Belichick said, “I’ll pass on the guys who aren’t on our team.”

It appears that at least for the time being, Belichick is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Elliott isn’t the first free-agent running back mentioned in Patriots rumors, as Dalvin Cook has also been linked to the team.

At the beginning of the offseason, the team moved on from Damien Harris, seemingly leaving Rhamondre Stevenson as the team’s lead back.

However, as time has gone on, there is a growing belief that the team isn’t satisfied just having Stevenson in this role.

Players like Elliott and Cook could provide a change of pace for the Patriots, who are looking to improve mightily from where they were last year.

Mac Jones is also in the hot seat, as the third-year quarterback is under a lot of pressure to succeed.

Having a veteran running back on the team to alleviate some of this pressure could be a sigh of relief for the organization.

Regardless of what happens moving forward, it’s clear that the Patriots are looking to make additional moves before the season begins.
