Four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook has become a hot commodity in the NFL, even though the league has not been kind to running backs during this offseason.

The former Minnesota Vikings star has been without a job since early last month when the team that drafted him in 2017 surprisingly released him after being unable to trade him or come to terms on a contract extension.

Initially, the Miami Dolphins were the team favored to sign Cook, but that ship seems to have sailed, with the New York Jets now taking the place of their AFC East rivals.

Cook met with the Jets over the weekend and could be on the verge of signing with the team to join forces with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

However, the prospect of signing with the Dallas Cowboys was floated out there, with Cook not exactly turning down the possibility of ending up with America’s Team, according to Kevin Gray Jr. via ESPN NFL.

Landing with the Cowboys seems like a bit of a stretch for Cook, with Dallas proving they don’t want to overpay for a star running back by releasing Ezekiel Elliot and failing to come to terms on a contract extension with Pro Bowler Tony Pollard.

That said, Cook might be a last resort for the Cowboys if talks with the Jets fall apart and no other team is intriguing the soon-to-be 28-year-old back.

It seems like only a matter of time before Cook signs with the Jets, but anything can happen from here on out if New York and the star back can see eye-to-eye on a deal.
