By all accounts, the San Francisco 49ers will be a solid all-around team in the NFL during the 2023 campaign, with second-year quarterback Brock Purdy leading the charge on offense and star defensive end Nick Bosa headling the defense.

Although the 49ers are expected to be a heavyweight in the NFC once again this year, the team does have one problem to address before the season gets underway, and that’s getting Bosa signed to a lucrative contract extension.

Even though Bosa is expected to potentially reset the market at his position with a new contract, the negotiation process has taken a bit longer than anticipated, as he has now missed four days of practices during training camp for the 49ers.

Bosa seems adamant about remaining off the field until a new contract gets done, especially after what happened with Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has nothing new to report on Bosa’s status and contract situation.

Obviously, it’s not a great sign that the 49ers haven’t been able to see eye-to-eye with Bosa on a new deal as of yet, but there’s still a lot of time left in order to get something done in order to salvage some time in training camp and prepare for the upcoming season.

Only time will tell when these two sides will get a deal done and Bosa gets back on the field, but it would be safe to assume it will get done before Week 1 at the latest.
